West Salem Modern is an urban infill residential development located in West Salem, an urban neighborhood in Winston-Salem. The project consists of five (5) new modern single-family residences sited on 1/5 acre urban lots. These residences range from 2,000 sf – 2,400 sf and provide access to affordable and sustainable modern homes. STITCH Design Shop was involved in this project as a development team partner, Architect and General Contractor.w
In order to create meaningful residential environments, we purchased, designed, permitted and built modern residences.
In a city with limited modern residential development, STITCH Design Shop was founded on the principle of fearlessly pursuing creative solutions. These residences are affordable, sustainable and appointed with great care while displaying thoughtful details. For this project, we invested our finances and ourselves to develop, design and build toward the realization of this urban community.
For an optimal result, we implemented high performance building envelopes, mechanical and plumbing systems.
The project uses high performance building envelopes, mechanical and plumbing systems, slab-on-grade construction as well as sealed crawl spaces. Exterior materials include metal panels, cementitious siding, and brick veneer. Roof assemblies consist of metal panels and tpo membranes, sheathing, roof trusses and spray-foam insulation. Technology is integrated throughout the homes including lighting, audio and security.
