A play on the traditional two-story home simplified to a modern gabled form. As a part of the West Salem modern homes, Pistol seeks to reconfigure the suburban framework followed by the many residences of West Salem. The charcoal gray exterior cladding contrasts with the warm cedar tones of the recessed entry sequence. The gabled form is proud of the flat roof on the front side of the home, while subverting itself on the back facade. Large glazing is permitted on the back façade of the home, as the public program is housed here, allowing for activity to spill onto the back patio.
